The Mesa Turkey Trot

The Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning was so much fun! 7 of the FMX team came out and ran the 10K! I was so proud. It was a beautiful day. The race had a guy in a turkey suit, and they said he could run about a 45 minute 10K so the goal was to beat the turkey!!!
No one really thought they could except Donald and he really wanted to get that turkey.
And here are the results!
Donald: Well he ran hard but he never passed the turkey so he was a little bummed. But he still got one of his best times at 51:47. But WAIT! There were so many people (about 4000) at the race that Donald started in the rear of the runners and the turkey started in the front... Turns out, even though Donald didn't pass the turkey he beat his chiptime by 30 seconds. HE BEAT THE TURKEY!
Lois: 1:13:01
Megan: 1:16:26
Kevin: 1:06:31
Steve: 1:05:02
James: 1:15:56
Shannon: 1:29:36

I know we can all learn from this experience and train accordingly. Remember... the Ragnar is a bit like doing that 3 times in 24 hours :)

Why was this so hard?

It was a lot of up and down. Donald's GPS shows a total incline of 488 ft. That's a lot. There was about the same decline but it was dispersed. So it was little mini hills. Plus! It was HOT and they didn't hydrate us.
